About This Place

Located in the heart of Fremont, East Bay Cafe Depot is a charming and vibrant restaurant that masterfully blends Filipino flavors with a welcoming cafe atmosphere, now also embracing delightful Turkish breakfast influences. This unique fusion eatery offers a dynamic culinary experience where traditional homestyle dishes meet fresh, innovative café offerings, perfect for breakfast lovers, coffee aficionados, and those seeking a cozy spot to unwind or study.

The menu at East Bay Cafe Depot is a celebration of rich, hearty flavors that instantly transport you to the islands of the Philippines with every bite. Standout dishes such as the Beef Tapa Filipinostyle and the intriguingly tender Lamb Tocino, both priced at around $18, showcase the kitchen’s dedication to authenticity and depth of flavor. As Thomas Rodriguez highlights, the Lamb Tocino’s savory sweetness and well-balanced seasoning left a lasting impression, making it a must-try. For those craving something familiar yet elevated, the Corned Beef Hash and the Breakfast Plate deliver satisfying, comforting flavors with a modern twist.

The cafe’s transformation into a Turkish-inspired eatery adds an exciting new dimension to the experience. Returning guests like K S have noticed the charming upgrades, including a warm, spacious decor and a revamped patio perfect for leisurely brunches. Fresh, vibrant options such as the house-made pomegranate juice complement the richer dishes beautifully, balancing indulgence with light, refreshing notes.

Beyond just food, the atmosphere at East Bay Cafe Depot strikes the perfect balance between a nostalgic, historic vibe and a contemporary, chic setting. Marianne O’s description of it as a “wonderful and nostalgic train station cafe” perfectly encapsulates its inviting ambiance, where wood accents and thoughtful design evoke a cozy, timeless feeling. Meanwhile, the owners’ passionate hospitality shines through, creating a community hub where every customer feels genuinely welcomed and valued—a sentiment echoed by Sayed Sadat and Challise Martin alike.

The coffee offerings at East Bay Cafe Depot are nothing short of exceptional. From creamy, frothy cappuccinos to rich, aromatic lattes, each cup is prepared with precision and care. Their coffee shop vibe also doubles as a welcoming study center, making it an ideal haven for those who want to fuel productivity with great food and coffee in a relaxing environment.

Whether you’re stopping by for a robust Filipino breakfast with a side of freshly brewed coffee, exploring the new Turkish-inspired menu items, or simply seeking a warm, inviting space to linger, East Bay Cafe Depot is a standout destination in Fremont’s culinary scene. Its blend of bold flavors, thoughtful ambiance, and heartfelt hospitality makes every visit memorable, as many locals already know and cherish.

Stopped by today to try their Silog style breakfasts. Ordered the Beef Tapa and Lamb Tocino breakfasts. I've never heard of or tried Lamb Tocino but wow! It was so good. I ordered it to go and ate it at home. It was so good I feel like going back to get another one lol. The couple that owns the restaurant are very nice and the food i tried was excellent. Planning to go back next weekend with some friends!

The chicken shawarma was so tender and flavorful. Took it next level with the added house made vinegar sauce. Owners were so personable with such warm and welcoming hospitality! 10/10 recommend!

East Bay Café is an absolute gem! From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with a warm, welcoming atmosphere and friendly staff who make you feel right at home. The coffee is exceptional—rich, smooth, and clearly made with care. Their food menu is just as impressive; everything tastes fresh and thoughtfully prepared.

A wonderful and nostalgic train station cafe that preserves the characteristics of historic train station. A lovely experience. The cafe will focus on Turkish breakfast going forward with the patio redone.

It's now an upgraded, cute-chic Turkish cafe & restaurant—a great find. I have been here once before when it was a Filipino-inspired restaurant. I see that same stuff on the menu as well as some great new options. They have fresh pomegranate juice which I loved! The space feels warm and spacious. Thanks for the revamp, Fremont needs more and more of such cafes.

I came here last week for the first time since the change in ownership. I was happy to see some Filipino food items still on the menu but wish there were a larger selection. The staff seem kind, friendly, and helpful. Sometimes the service can be a bit slower with one main person tending to the tables, so if you have a train to catch leave plenty of time to enjoy your meal. The food was delicious. I’ll have to try some of the other items on the menu next time. One thing I did not like was the new tables and chairs. They are white and modern-looking and really don’t suit the rustic and quaint train station atmosphere. I hope it’s not a signal that they’re going for a modernized look overall because the older wooden furniture and the other old-timey decorations really give this place a lot of charm and appeal, making it not just a restaurant but an experience.

Tried this cafe a few weeks ago! A quiet option for your brunch/ coffee times We were there only for coffee, but seemed like a nice place to grab a small bite as well. Many people were doing that. Open deck, overlooking the Centerville Station was a fun location to enjoy the coffee. Service was great despite the wait, staff was supportive and kind. Overall, a great option, if you like charming, old and quiet places. Don’t forget to take a walk around. Hope you enjoy!
